Programme Introduction
The Bachelor of Science in Innovation and Technology [BSc(I&T)] is a four-year interdisciplinary program that prepares students to address real-world challenges through technological innovations. While a series of diverse, open-ended project studios in which students engage with real-world partners help to cultivate their hands-on problem-solving techniques, the set of integrated foundational courses help the students to lay a solid foundation in science, engineering, design and business topics necessary for the building these project solutions. Students build their expertise though a customized technology focus while the co-op experience allows them to exercise their skills in real-world settings. In the final year, students propose their own ventures, form teams, and pitch their ideas as their capstone experience.
You will be learning about the innovation process primarily through project experiences in which you work with outside partners to address real-world challenges. These partners will be from different sectors of the society, from non-profit organizations to technology companies and research labs, and you will practice identifying their needs, formulating ill-defined problems into addressable challenges, prototyping and refining the solutions, and finally pitching the ideas to your partners and academic mentors. The series of integrated foundational courses will cover the basis of science, engineering, design and business, enough to support your project experience. You will learn to learn, and building up your own customized technology focus. During the co-op experience, you will work in a startup company or leading an innovation project in a technology company or a research lab. During the final year, you will experience the innovation process by forming your own team and starting your own innovation venture.
