My HKU life - Wholesome, Fulfilling and Memorable

Shivang Singh is a recipient of the HKU Foundation Entrance Scholarship for President’s Scholars. Recently graduated with the Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Global Management, Shivang described his university life as wholesome, fulfilling and memorable!

“HKU provides a vibrant mix of growth opportunities, state-of-the-art resources, and financial support for students to follow their dreams. The balance between academic and extra-curricular activities, bright career prospects, and access to global opportunities have motivated me to come to HKU. Having spent the past 4 years  here, I can confidently say that this was the best decision I made.”

“I went on an exchange to the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration  in Austria in February 2020. I made a number of friends and travelled to several new places. While I was all set to go backpacking across Europe, the COVID-19 pandemic interrupted my plans. That said, exchange was the best part of my university life.”

Shivang also participated in the IBGM international field trip to Spain and had a wonderful experience. “We studied global businesses through firm visits to listen to presentations by the management. We were able to get into the shoes of the various stakeholders to think, analyse, learn and contribute. Furthermore, the integration of resources such as documentaries, quizzes, and essays in coursework ensured that education was not rote learning but focused on hands-on learning.”

Upon graduation, Shivang is determined to focus on impact and positive change. “Although I have an offer to work at one of the biggest investment banks, I have decided to return to India to devote myself to public service through mainstream politics. I hope that every single child in my country have equitable access to opportunities that I have at HKU, regardless of their background and status. I will fight against inequalities and disparities in the hope to contribute to my country as well as the world.”
